ah, the joys of it all... - I go out with friends, and we complain about life, and that is how it is these days...

Had trouble wiht the final panel and getting the lighting correct, but with jess' help, it seems it got figured out ><

I just hope the last panel of the previous page is identifiable now too...

still waiting for those zoshi buttons...i can't wait to seee!!! but jess reccomended another site to me yesterday to order goodies from, and I woke up this morning remembering I was going to need to get clear sleeves for my large art prints after NDK ><

they will sadly be nakey for the con T_T no more budget moneys...

i really need to read that article on marketing...so I can budget correctly ><

there is no way this is a form of income, BUT it can be used to spread teh devil's cake...and fun times at cons ^^ so I'll aim for that...

steady income is what a real job is for so I'll keep working towards that...

gah early, blabbering >< Advertisement, October 19th, 2017, 6:31 pm (Reply)

Waaah~ - As an aspiring webcomic artist myself I was wondering, how do you do your comic? Is it traditionally done then inked and scaled in something like photoshop, or done comepletely digitally? How did you start it? Was it a big production, or just a random thing on a Rainey day? Your work is a big inspiration for me, and I'd really like to make one of my own one day :)

Producer 1 - I draw my pencils and inx traditionally, and then scan them into manga studio for text and tones.
I've wanted to make comics ever since I discovered x-men. It was a good outlet to unite the plot bunnies running around in my head with my arts ^^.
Devil's Cake is a big a producton in that...I've outlined the entire story already and know the arcs to come. I fear that most web comics that start on a rainy day and aren't planned out, have a hard time lasting very long...or the story will sag in the middle, ya know?
If and when you do start your own, start with a short one, like... a 20 pg short story, for practice. then maybe try a 3 chapter comic after that...ya know, work your way up.
Many new comic artists make the mistake of trying to create an epic series right off the bat, and they just end up being over whelmed. you gotta work up your 'mucsles' and knowledge...you gunna make allot of mistakes in those first comics, so it's best to get the bulk of em out before you start work on your baby.
Pick up Scott McCloud's 'How to make comics' before you start doing anything. this book will get the bulk of the issues within your understanding before you begin ^^
Visual Storytelling and Pacing are always the tricky parts for me even now, So have an editor/guinea pig on hand to test out your storytelling on, and point out the obvious problems. ask them what they think is happening, so you can get an idea of how the reader is experiencing your story, and if that is indeed how you want them to take it.
The whole process does become easier and quicker with practice. ^^

Good Luck! work Hard!

Ah - Thanks much for taking the time respond to me, I think I will go ahead and make a short story then, I'll catch up to your level of epic soon enough. :-D

Producer1 (Guest), August 24th, 2009, 8:44 pm (Reply)
Duh - Your up to 11 and over 9000, a level of epic that few people can reach In the webcomicing world.
